Broker Program Alternative to Auction/Slaughter
Another Chance 4 Horses Broker Program - an alternative to auctions/slaughter. We are providing the horses with a larger viewing audience and additional time versus the short time they get through the auction ring, holding lot, feed lot or kill pen, if they get that opportunity at all. We do not own these horses when they are listed and they are not at our rescue farm. The information given regarding the horse(s) is approximated (best guess) not guaranteed by Another Chance 4 Horses. We have taken a pro-active, preventative approach by listing these horses in hopes of assisting them out of the auction/slaughter arena and into a private home. Dangers of auctions are injury, death, illness and the possibility of being purchased for slaughter. We will include all levels of horses available. Pickup is Monday. Layover and quarantine available. We reserve the right to deny anyone. The horses are protected by written contract. SAFE - But when people ask how do they
wind up owned by a kill buyer? Here is an example.
Approximate age: Smooth
Approximate height: 11 hands
Gender: mare Color: pinto
Notes: 448 branded on side , spot in right eye.
Note: We were informed that this pony went through Verdant Pastures Rescue in MD there are video's of this pony while supposedly in the care of the rescue and it is reported not verified that she was an owner surrender. The rescue was visited by the SPCA and horses removed.
Jennifer Hurry/Verdant Pastures Rescue- Horses seized, Commissioner Larry Jarboe (R), who represents northern St. Mary’s, was notified and drove past the property on Finch Court. “It looked to me like we’relooking at a horse concentration camp. http://www.somdnews.com/article/20130215/NEWS/130219420/1044/improper-shelter-for-horses-pony-alleged&template=southernMaryland
Son of the rescue owner who resided or resides with Jennifer Hurry is a convicted sex offender:
Jennifer Hurry has continuously said horrible things about Lara and Selina (minors) and also at every available opportunity is slamming our rescue and our efforts. While I despise "drama" I feel it is important to educate factually about this ponies past and it helps to explain why she found herself purchased by a kill buyer.

SAFE but another example of how horses wind up at the kill pen.
9-17-20-095- Haflinger Sassafras LAM
Approximate age: foaled 2004
Approximate height: 14.2
Color: Chestnut mane and tail white star
Notes: Reg with American Haflinger Registry #24342-04
Note History Obtained: Well it has come to my attention that a haflinger mare that my sister used to own is on the AC4H broker page. This mare does not deserve to be on this page & has just horrified my family & friend. The mares name is Sassafras Lam "Sassy". My sister bought her when she was 3 yrs old coming 4. At the time she was taught to drive but not ride. My sister sent her to a trainer for 3 months & got her back. My sister ended up losing her job & had to sell Sassy. This mare at the time was trained by a western pleasure trainer & new how to stop on command & side pass & etc. My sister had w/training, $3,800. in her. I told one of my friends about how my sister was selling her & my friend wanted a haflinger & bought her knowing that she was fresh from a trainer & still needed riding time. Sassy never offered to buck , rear or etc. My friend had a young girl at her barn that promised to help her work with her. So, my friend from Virgina bought her. The young girl rode her a few times & then one time while she was riding her in the round pen, Sassy bumped the girls leg on the fence, the girl leaned forward in the saddle (english & the girl had never ridden english before) & slapped Sassy on the shoulder. This startled Sassy & she bolted sideways & the girl fell off. After that, my friend didn't want to ride her & the girl wouldn't get back on her. My friend kept her for 4 years & last year she traded her to a guy in NJ last year. I called the guy tonight & asked him why is Sassy in this situation. He said he didn't understand. He worked with her driving & riding, said she did really good. He said he sold her to a camp as a camp horse this past spring. So here she is now on the broker page of AC4H. I do not have the money to buy her from this situation. My friend said she doesn't have room for her. My sister financially doesn't have the money to buy her. I am hoping that you could help me quickly spread the word about her & help save her. She comes from very well bred imported sire & dam.
