Reunited through AC4H...
Another Chance 4 Horses, Inc.
has approximately 35 horses in our care. In addition to
rescuing, rehabilitating and placing horses in our care we
also frequent the auctions, slaughter pens, feedlots and
broker lots to take pictures of horse and do an evaluation
then post them on the website. This allows the horses more
time and a larger viewing audience in hopes of finding a
home and escaping the auction/slaughter circuit when our
rescue is out of funds to save them or out of room.
Last week AC4H encountered a
beautiful grey Thoroughbred mare named "Bubbles" her
registered name "Seattle Love Sign", graddaughter of Seattle
Slew. After posing the pictures and information
including photographs of someone an anyonymous person
eventing and jumping Bubbles the AC4H horsehelpers group, a
group of volunteers who get the word posted the horses on
free ads and discussion forums. A member of the AC4H forum,
Maria recognzied the mare and the anonymous person in the
pictures had a name, Amanda. Maria picked up the telephone
and made a call. Amanda was horrified and explained she had
retired Bubbles from eventing and had given her to a family
with a child. They seemed like a nice family and were
supposed to call if they didn't want the mare any longer but
that didn't happen and instead wrote on the bottom of the
eventing pictures that "daughter lost interest" and Bubbles
found herself in a lifethreatening situation.
Please use written contracts to help keep your horse safe.
Amanda drove several hours from
Maryland to meet AC4H and pick Bubbles up. When Bubbles saw
Amanda she literally let out this huge sigh and Amanda
looked at me and burst into tears. Below you can see Amanda
looking through the paperword that saved Bubbles life.
Amanda said thank you Maria and to AC4H for doing what we
do. A rescue consists of a lot of people working together
to make miracles happen so that the horses get "another
chance".
