A large percentage of American horses slaughtered each year are Thoroughbred's-- The slaughter houses in the US are closed but horses have ALWAYS gone to Mexico and Canada to be slaughtered.  There are more American horses being slaughtered now than when the plants were open in the US.  Aside from the horrors of the slaughter process, designed for cattle and not the long neck of horses, the transportation to the slaughterhouses is largely unregulated, with long hauls of mares, foals and stallions mixed together, without food or water. 

Keep in mind that according to USDA inspecitions over 90% of the horses slaughtered were young, sound and healthy!  Not lame, old or sick.   Support HR503 and S311 to end transport of American horses to foreign slaughter houses.

Lillian and Julie (Saddlebred division) helped with saving the Saddlebred gelding with skinned knee's ... Lillian came to get Easter another  Saddlebred in need and offered to take this lovely guy home to foster and place... she also has skinned knees that we hope heal quickly!
