Do you recognize this horse?  We need to find his owners... please help!

Today (June 14, 2008) while holding appointments at the rescue, we received a call that someone had dropped a thin grey arabian gelding off at an auction house in Fredricksburg Pennsylvania.  They were having a sale tonight and when some of the people arrived to open the barn the horse was left inside with no name or number.  This horse was not checked into the sale to be sold just dropped off.  They asked me to come get the horse and I immediately agreed.  They moved him offsite so they didn't get any reports that they had allowed an underweight horse to be consigned - if a horse is not fit to work it is against the law in PA to sell that horse.  Lorri and her husband,  Andrea and my girls Lara and Selina went along to pick him up.  We were shocked when we saw him.  Do you know this horse?  If you do please contact us at info@ac4h.com or 610-621-5290.

According to the law the owner can be prosecuted under 5511c.

  18 Pa. Cons.Stat. § 5511(c)

(c) Cruelty to animals-

(1) A person commits an offense if he wantonly or cruelly illtreats, overloads, beats, otherwise abuses any animal, or neglects any animal as to which he has a duty of care, whether belonging to himself or otherwise, or abandons any animal, or deprives any animal of necessary sustenance, drink, shelter or veterinary care, or access to clean and sanitary shelter which will protect the animal against inclement weather and preserve the animal's body heat and keep it dry.

special markings would include ears that have chestnut coloring, mane has a splash of chestnut at withers and chestnut ink mark on the left rear.

Body condition poor and dehydrated with diareah - most likely from lack of fiber.

Do you think neglect/abandonment and the lack of slaughterhouses in the USA are connected?  If you do... you need to do some research... Tallah not doing good... with vet recommendation after reviewing his test results Tallah was started on antibiotics was lavished with fresh alfalpha leaves mind you he couldn't eat the stems so we picked the leaves off of the stems for him Selina, Lara and myself diced and shredded apples and carrots along with hand walks for grazing as seen with Rick and lots and lots of love.

On June 23rd Tallah crossed over - the damage that was done was too much and his body was in no shape to fight.  Lee, our son, had just checked on Tallah and introduced his friend and his friends mother to precious Tallah telling them his tale.  He walked away for less than 10 minutes and upon return found Tallah on his side not breathing.  Tallah got to leave this world on his own terms without help and knew love in his last days.  We are greatful that we were able to offer that to him.  Selina took this very hard she was very hopeful that he would make it ... "

Sometimes saving them isn't that they will live an additional 20 years but that they will die with dignity and knowing someone loved them".    RIP Tallah.
